The Masterpiece

January 18, 2012

The world is going to tell you that you’re not pretty enough, tall enough, skinny enough, rich enough, or smart enough. It’s going to feed you the myth that you don’t measure up to your friends, coworkers, family, or latest magazine covers.

It’s sole intent is to beat you down and make you feel worthless without that certain product or that certain person. It will scream that you don’t matter and you never will.

As you’re buying those lies, God will quietly whisper that you’re beautiful, you’re worthy, and you’re His masterpiece. You don’t have to believe Him. You can wallow in self pity and tell yourself that you’re are nothing. You can call to mind your shortcomings, your temptations, and your failures. You can meditate on your painful past or you can listen to the One who knows you. The One who sees you go from here to there and knows your thoughts and words before they ever touch your lips.

You can’t run from Him even though you’ve tried. You can’t hide or hope he doesn’t see you.

He knows you well and loves you dearly despite your imperfections and regardless of the fact that you think you’re nothing.

Turn off the speakers of this world and plug yourself into His Word. Believe that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139). Know and understand that He says you are worth it and if He says it, it’s true.

You’re not perfect but He doesn’t expect you to be. He just wants you to look in the mirror and see how beautiful you really are.
